Local Talent Takes the Plunge
For Zach Seufert, music is not just a hobby but a way of life and survival.

Cali-bred singer/songwriter Zach Seufert moved to Florida with his family when he was just nine years old. To make the adjustment more bearable, Zach’s parents bought him a drum kit that he described as “amazing.”
Zach spent the next seven years learning the ins and outs of rhythm and percussion. He was hooked on the music. To advance his new love, Zach joined the church choir and sang in the chorus at school.
At 17, he was burned out on the drums. “My interest began to fade and I soon picked up the guitar,” he said. “I taught myself a few chords and became consumed by music again.”
After rediscovering his passion for the art form, Zach Seufert dedicated his entire being to the craft. He said he would play in his room at night “trying to not wake the house up.” Although he admits he was never successful, Seufert had full support from his family. “Mom was always so patient,” he remembers.
When Seufert turned 18, he became a bartender to make ends meet. He says that working in hospitality gave him the foundation to start writing his own music. “I found deep inspiration in watching the many characters of life,” Seufert said.
For the past 10 years, Seufert has been traveling the world with a dream and a guitar on his back. He says that now is the “time to put all the rest aside and dive head first into the music.”
Seufert plays 3-4 gigs a week and bar tends on a few additional nights. At each show, he plays covers plus some original works of his own. Come December, he says that he is solely playing music and is stepping out of the service industry.
By mid-December, Seufert hopes to have his website up and running. He has two original recordings that should be available on iTunes by the beginning of 2012.
Zach Seufert plays a live show every Tuesday and Saturday at Crabby Bill’s Loading Dock, at 401 Gulf Boulevard, on Indian Rocks Beach.
