Madeira Beach Development: What You're Saying
We asked Patch readers what they thought of a planned Marriott Hotel and other development projects in the works for Madeira Beach. What do you think?

Patch recently told you about a four-story, 90-room Courtyard Marriott to be built this spring in Madeira Beach near Johns Pass.
Other development projects recently completed or in the works in the area include a new Walgreens and Chase Bank, a beachfront restaurant and a 12-unit condominium, TBO.com reports.
We asked Pinellas Beaches Patch readers what they thought of all the development and what it will mean for local residents. Here's some of what they had to say:

bestbeach:Â "10 years ago I was attracted to Madeirs Beach (sic) because of the low comercialization, it represented such a unique village. I will for sure stand in the way of this commercialization! Mederia Beach does not need this."
beth davis: "I am a new business owner of Dizzy Lizzy's Boutique on Madeira Way and I think it is wonderful! Our little street is also happy to annouce that we will be adding to the atmosphere by having a "themed monthly event" on our street starting in May!!!!!"

RugglesJames: "Wrong location - this location services Bay Pines VA Hospital but does nothing for blighted areas of Mad Beach. People looking for Beach accommodations will not stay there. New Beach front hotels are needed to draw vacationers to the area. Clearwater is the proof."
Fred Fisher: "Would much rather seen over by the beach area and not right by the Legion Post 273 where it is not a seedy area. I also would not recommend a courtyard Marriot after the rude and poor service we received at Destin Florida!!!!!!!"
rick: "I think it is great ! There were getting to be some seedy areas in Madeira Beach. So anything that can be done to make it more appealing to locals and tourists is for the better. I don't think the numbers of projects proposed will change toe the look or feel of Madeira Beach ,but only freshen it up -Great job city hall !"
