Madeira Beach Elementary Helps Oklahoma Tornado Survivors

A moving truck filled by the Madeira Beach community with donated items arrived June 11 in Moore, OK.

When the Madeira Beach Elementary School community learned of the deadly tornado in Moore, OK,  they decided to launch a donation drive to help Plaza Towers Elementary, which was in the storm's path.

"It really hit home when I heard all but one PTA Board member lost (their) home and everything they owned. I could only imagine if this happened to our school that other PTA's would come to our need," wrote Kat Amann, PSTA President at Madeira Beach Fundamental, on Patch.

The Madeira Beach community gathered more than 7,200 items to benefit the Moore tornado survivors. The items arrived in a moving truck June 11.  Along with the toys, household items, computers, scanners, food, and water, were hand-written notes from local children.
