Man Steals Fire Extinguisher From Treasure Island Resort, Police Say
A Treasure Island Police Officer allegedly watched the man steal a fire extinguisher, pull the pin and then throw it into Gulf Boulevard.
Justin Matthew Tedder, 20, of Weirsdale, FL, was seen taking a fully operational fire extinguisher from a locked box at the Tahitian Resort at 11320 Gulf Boulevard in Treasure Island, police say.
According to Pinellas County arrest reports, Tedder took the extinguisher, pulled the pin, expelled the foam/powder and then threw it into the middle of Gulf Boulevard - about 200 feet from it's box, on Friday, July 26.
Treasure Island Police say the man admitted to taking the extinguisher after he was arrested.Â
Tedder is charged with grand theft, a felony. He posted $5,000 bail and was released from Pinellas County Jail.
