ST. PETE BEACH, FL -- Prepare for the return of histrionics, angst and narcissism, courtesy of Generation Z and MTV.

The third season of MTV's "Floribama Shore" has begun filming. But this season there's a change of venue. The reality show focusing on eight housemates in their 20s is set in the Panhandle near the Alabama border (thus the show's name) but damage to the area from last fall's Hurricane Michael sent the cast and crew packing.

The show's production company, 495 Productions, the same folks who brought the world Snooki and Vinny of "Jersey Shore" fame, has set up shop on Punta Vista Drive, an isolated cul-de-sac on the Intracoastal Waterway in St. Pete Beach. The company is renting two waterfront homes -- one for the cast to live in during filming and the other for the production team. Shooting will take place through July 15.

The lovable young Southerners will be returning to MTV this fall, the network has announced. The crew -- including original castmates Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Kortni Gilson, Aimee Hall, Kirk Medas, Nilsa Prowant, Candace Rice and Gus Smyrnios -- will reunite and head to St. Petersburg, FL, bringing drama, romance, friendship and fun along with them for the hottest time yet.--MTV

Tiffany Reis, an executive of the production company, met with St. Pete Beach Mayor Al Johnson and the city commission on May 28 to assure them that this season would be much more sedate than the previous two seasons.

“(It’s) why we found this to be perfect for our situation, because we don’t want to make too much chaos happen,” Reis said. “It’s in a very specific spot on a private street.”

Reis added that she's working closely with surrounding homeowners to keep disruption at a minimum.

“It’s not a spring break sort of situation where they’re just here to tear up the town and leave,” she said. “This is purely like a tradition. This is when they get to actually meet up and share what’s been happening in their lives together.”

The crew of 80 to 120 people will be housed in five local hotels. The show will include various locations around the area including St. Pete Beach's Toasted Monkey bar.

While he welcomes the economic impact, Johnson worried that the show would tarnish the city's family-friendly atmosphere.

"They’ve definitely put a boost into our economy in terms of restaurants and hotel rooms," said Johnson. “But we don’t want to be looked at as a spring break destination."

The overall budget for the show is around $9 million and the production company will spend more than $500,000 on hotel rooms alone.

The third season of "Floribama Shore" will premiere in the fall.
