PCSB Early College/Early Admissions Warning

Amazing program but severe flaw could derail your child's plans

If you are considering the Early College or Early Admissions program at SPC through Pinellas County Schools, it is truly amazing, but it is well worth your time to go to the Tarpon Springs or Clearwater campuses even if they are further from home. What is not clearly explained prior to entering is that you are forfeiting your school counselor and accepting the ECP/EA counselor for EVERYTHING related to college applications.

If you choose to send your child to Seminole or Gibb’s campus you are putting your child in EXTREME DANGER at the hands of the counselor there. There is no going back once you accept. PCSB has been notified of this counselor’s habitual, continual, and pervasive harassment and weaponized incompetence against the best and the brightest students in Pinellas for over two years, yet has decided to do NOTHING to protect the children.

The program is amazing, but please know if you go to Seminole or Gibbs’ campus you will absolutely have to fight for everything from attendance, books, transcripts, reference letters, and any college aid for your child while walking a fine line because the "mistakes" at this level are life changing. It is excruciating. You will NOT be able to ask for help from PCSB once you are in or the treatment and “mistakes” against your child will get worse. You will receive ZERO help from PCSB and you will have absolutely no recourse except to put up with it, or leave the program and subsequently your child’s seat if you are in a lottery school.

Prior to entry, you can contact Ms. Jones at (727)588-6120 for alternatives, but currently there are no other options. You may not realize it but you are waiving all rights to using another counselor by joining the program.

If your child is in the program know that if you try to speak up now you will not be helping by speaking up. The counselor will retaliate without consequence, just keep your head down and power through, you can do it!
