Sanding Ovations Sand Sculpture Event Kicks Off At Treasure Island
Here's what you need to know before you go to this annual event.
TREASURE ISLAND, FL — Featuring 12 nationally known sand sculptors from around the country, Sanding Ovations kicked off Thursday morning on Treasure Island Beach, and will continue through Sunday as well as Nov. 25 and 26.
This weekend, those attending will have a chance to see the sculptors put the finishing touches on their larger-than-life sand sculptures.
Throughout this weekend and next weekend, visitors will also enjoy live music by national and local acts, peruse the offerings of street vendors selling merchandise, a beach food court, arts and crafts marketplace and enjoy fireworks each Saturday night. Kites and night flies will be provided by Windworks of Maderia Beach.

The masterful exhibition of sand sculpting talent at a world-class level is a big appeal, supplemented by the sponsor sculptures created by Treasure Island’s own Meredith and Dan Doubleday of Sanding Ovations professional sand sculptors.

Using this year's theme, “It’s About Time,” a wonderland will be created through the imaginations of sculptors Dan Doubleday, Sue McGrew, Deborah Barrett-Cutulle, Melineige Beauregard, Benoit Dutherage, Fergus Mulvany, Damon Meri, Abe Waterman, Jonathan Bouchard, Morgan Rudluff and Bruce Phillips.
What You Need To Know
- Sanding Ovations is a free event.
- There will be parking around the event and areas outside the event with a shuttle service. Find where lots are located and lots providing shuttle service by clicking here.
- This year's event will be cashless. Parking for the event, bars insidethe event, and the Sanding Ovations merchandise tent will not accept cash. Visitors can pay using their mobile wallets, a credit card or an app. Vendors at the event will be accepting cash and/or credit.
- The city's new smoking and vaping ban will be in effect during this year'sSanding Ovations. Guests are reminded that there is no smoking or vaping on the beach sand or beach trail. Those wishing to smoke or vape can do so in city parking lots or designated areas. City ordinance also prohibits dogs and glass on the beach.
- Hours are: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
