The future of Plant City is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Molly Rice, who are making a positive impact in and around Plant City.
A graduate of Durant High School in Plant City, Molly stands out as an exemplary young leader recognized for her dedication to serving others. In 2023, she received the prestigious Silent Servant Scholarship Award from The Peter R. Marsh Foundation. The award celebrated her extraordinary empathy and selflessness. Her achievements were also celebrated at her school's pep rally, covered in the local newspaper and acknowledged with a personal letter from a U.S. Congressman.
Molly's high school counselor, Tamara Shaw, described her as “the epitome of a phenomenal student leader” with an unwavering servant’s heart. Molly has made a difference through initiatives such as tutoring middle school students, volunteering with Gowns for Girls to provide dresses for girls in need and feeding migrant workers and families at the Beth-El Mission. She also founded and led Durant High’s Environmental Club, educating students on sustainability, organizing campus-wide initiatives and spearheading community clean-ups.
