Plant City Celebrates Independence Day

Local organizations partnered to present the 16th annual celebration.

PLANT CITY, FL — The rain stayed away and a near-capacity crowd of an estimated 7,000 people turns out July 4 for the 16 annual Fourth of July celebration at Plant City Stadium.

Presented by the city of Plant City Parks & Recreation Department and the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, attendees enjoyed live music by Double Barrel Band, train rides by Trina’s Trains and Things, balloon art by A1 Magic, airbrushing by M6FX LLC, bounce houses and a climbing wall by Lakeland Moonwalk, in addition to a 50/50 raffle and vendors on site.

The event culminated with the presentation of the colors by the Strawberry Crest JROTC, the pledge of allegiance led by the 2022 Little Miss Plant City Court started followed by the national anthem sung by Brenna Stross.

The 2022 Little Miss Plant City Court also selected the winning 50/50 raffle ticket. Tony Harvey from Plant City received $602, half of the raffle funds collected. The other half will go toward event expenses for the following year.

Remarks were made by Irene Castillo, chairwoman of the board of directors of the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, Plant City Mayor Nate Kilton and City Manager Bill McDaniel followed by the grand finale fireworks.
