Plant City Commission To Invest $4.3M In Road Resurfacing, Sidewalks

PLANT CITY, FL — Following two public hearings, the Plant City budget for fiscal year 2023-24 was approved at the Plant City Commission meeting on Sept. 25.

The approved budget includes a $4.3 million investment to resurface roadways and sidewalks, and funds to repair and improve equipment and facilities related to water infrastructure. Additionally, the budget includes a 13.5 percent raise for full-time employees including members of the Plant City Police Department and Plant City Fire Rescue.

The budget also includes funds for additional major capital improvement projects like park improvements, and stormwater drainage pipe repairs and improvements. Funds have also been designated for the future construction of a new Planteen Events Center with additional funding for the facility to be earmarked over the next few fiscal years.
