Woman Seriously Injured In Hillsborough Crash: FL Highway Patrol

A 73-year-old woman whose vehicle broke down on State Road 400 early Friday was seriously injured after being hit by another car, FHP said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A 73-year-old Auburndale woman whose vehicle broke down on State Road 400 early Friday morning was seriously injured after being hit by another car, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A 22-year-old Wimauma man was driving east on the state road just after 3 a.m. when he lost control of his car.

He hit the victim’s car, which had been disabled earlier and was parked along the shoulder of the highway west of Branch Forbes Road, FHP said.

His car overturned on the grass shoulder, while the victim’s car was pushed forward into the shoulder.

The woman, who was seated in her car at the time of the crash, was brought to an area hospital with serious injuries, FHP said.

The driver who lost control was also brought to an area hospital, but suffered only minor injuries.
