Drug Overdose Suspected in Death of Man Found in Wooded Area
Breaking: The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is working to confirm the man's identity.

SARASOTA, FL — The man whose body was found in a wooded area off Colonial Drive and New England Street on Saturday may have died from an overdose, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the area just after 2 p.m. Saturday when a resident found the body and notified authorities, the agency wrote in a Monday email to media.
“Based on preliminary investigation, detectives believe the death may have been the result of a drug overdose,” the email said. The official cause of death remains under investigation by the county medical examiner’s office.

Detectives are still working to confirm the identity of the man found. The sheriff’s office has said the victim is a white male believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s.
