Sarasota Woman Killed in I-75 Crash

Breaking: Details have emerged in the Wednesday morning crash that closed I-75 southbound lanes.

SARASOTA, FL — A 66-year-old Sarasota woman is dead following a Wednesday morning crash on Interstate 75 near North River Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Sherry L. Kubiak was heading south in a Fiat 500 around 7:33 a.m. At that same time, a semi-truck driven by Ramon Enrique Ruiz, 47, of Hialeah was also heading south.

Troopers say both vehicles were in the left lane about a mile south of North River Road with the Fiat following behind the semi-truck. Ruiz, a highway patrol report said, began to slow down, but Kubiak did not.
