Man’s Body Found in Sarasota Ditch

SARASOTA, FL — Two men walking along the 1700 block of East Avenue in Sarasota made a grisly discovery Wednesday evening.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, the men found another man’s body in a ditch and called 911 at 7 p.m.

Police say the community is not in any danger.

“It’s unknown how long the man has been deceased,” the agency wrote in an email to media.

At this time, it is unknown if foul play was involved in the man’s death, the agency noted. The Sarasota County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death.

No further information is being released at this time, including the man’s identity.
