Seminole Heights Community Invited to Participate in Playground Build Day

Volunteers are being asked to sign up for build day on Saturday, March 23.

On Saturday, March 23, hundreds of volunteers will gather in the Seminole Heights area to build a playground at King's Kids Academy of Health and Sciences.

Residents of the community and organizers from KaBOOM! will spearhead the volunteer effort at the school, 1924 N. Comanche Street, to create a new playground with a design based on drawings created by local children, said Mike Vietti, KaBOOM! communications manager.

KaBOOM! partners with local organizations throughout the year to create safe places to play for children, with the goal of making sure they remain active and healthy.

The purpose of the new playground at the academy is to provide kids with a safe place to play, since the school didn't have a safe playground when it opened in August.

Saturday's event kicks off with registration at 8:30 a.m., and will continue until building is completed at about 3 p.m.

Saturday's build day marks the second time this year that KaBOOM! has partnered with local organizations and members of the community to create playground space for local children.

Anyone interested in volunteering can pre-register by contacting Tina Young at tyoung@project-link.org or 813-943-3820.
