Seminole Heights Homicide Under Investigation
A 25-year-old man was found dead in an alley Thursday afternoon.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department is investigating the death of a 25-year-old man whose body was found in an alley in the Seminole Heights area Thursday afternoon.
According to the agency, police were called to an alley between East Comanche Avenue and East Mohawk Avenue, between North 9th Street and North 11th Street, around 12:40 p.m. Jan. 26. When they arrived, they found a man who died of “apparent upper body trauma,” an email from the agency said.
Police say the victim has been identified as Dontae Lampkins.

“The homicide does not appear to be random,” the agency said in a Friday morning email to media. “It is unclear at this time when the murder occurred.”
Police say Lampkins was wearing a dark blue sweat suit at the time of his death. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the police department at 813-231-6130.
