Tampa's Mandatory Mask Ordinance Requires All To Wear Face Coverings At Airport

TAMPA, FL — In accordance with a City of Tampa Executive Order, face coverings are now required for all at Tampa International Airport, including guests and passengers traveling through the terminals and facilities.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor set the citywide order to go into effect on Friday, June 19 at 5 p.m., and stated that employees and anyone walking into a business must cover their mouth and nose with a mask or face covering. Some exceptions apply, including for children under 2, those eating and drinking or those who are able to maintain a six-foot distance from others. A full list of exemptions is listed here on the City of Tampa website.

TPA has required its employees to wear masks or face coverings for several weeks and has strongly encouraged passengers to do the same while inside the Airport, but the new ordinance reinforces the rule for all. The intent of the masks is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and several airlines have already implemented their own mandatory mask requirements for passengers.
