Four people also won $2 million, meaning they matched all five white balls with the Power Play options. Those tickets were sold in Michigan, Oregon, Texas and Wyoming.
Another 117 tickets won $50,000 prizes (Match 4 + PB) and 36 tickets won $150,000 prizes (Match 4 + PB + Power Play).
The $1.7 billion jackpot is the third-largest in U.S. history. The other two were a $2.04 billion jackpot in 2022 and a $1.765 million jackpot in 2023.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number are 1 in 292.2 million, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 24.9.
Wednesday’s Powerball drawing will be the 42nd drawing since the jackpot was last won in California on May 31, 2025, tying for the longest Powerball jackpot run, which was set on April 6, 2024, with a $1.326 billion jackpot winner in Oregon.
Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold. Since its first drawing in 1992, the Powerball game has helped generate more than $36 billion for good causes supported by U.S. lotteries.
To be considered in Wednesday’s drawing, which takes place at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, tickets must be purchased by 10 p.m., according to the Florida Lottery. Powerball drawings are also live-streamed on Powerball.com.
