2-Alarm Blaze Rips Through Tampa Warehouse

Breaking: Hillsborough County Fire Rescue says several animals have escaped a blaze at a Barry Road warehouse.

TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is battling a Thursday afternoon blaze at a warehouse on Barry Road.

According to the agency, the two-alarm fire broke out in the 5800 block of Barry Road Thursday afternoon. “Several small explosions have been heard inside the building,” the agency reported via Twitter.

Few details related to the fire have been released, but the county said some animals that were inside the building have gotten out. More, however, “are feared inside.”

It is unclear if people were inside the structure when the fire broke out.

The Veterans Expressway is reportedly experiencing intermittent closings north of Hillsborough Avenue due to the fire.
