2 Charged After Interfering With FL Immigration Investigation: U.S. DOJ
Two people were arrested for interfering with a FL immigration investigation in Tampa and shoving a Homeland Security officer, U.S. DOJ said
TAMPA, FL — Two people were charged in connection with the interference of an immigration investigation in Tampa, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.
Alfredo Javier Fuentes, 22, and Luz Mary Vasquez Cruz, 45, both of Tampa, were charged with forcibly assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer or employee.
If convicted, they each face a maximum penalty of eight years in federal prison.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents were investigating a Honduran national for immigration-related matters at a home in Tampa on July 15 when Vasquez and Cruz placed themselves between agents and the subject of the investigation, the DOJ said.
They shoved an HSI agent backwards, allowing the subject to flee into the home, the department said.
