HB 433 - Heat Protections for Workers

House Bill 433 bans local governments from requiring contractors to provide heat protection for outdoor workers. Currently, there are no state laws that require heat exposure protections for workers.

HB 1645 - Climate Change

This legislation removes the term “climate change” from all state statutes and also removed it as a priority from Florida’s energy policy.

“Florida rejects the designs of the left to weaken our energy grid, pursue a radical climate agenda and promote foreign adversaries,” DeSantis posted to X, formerly Twitter, in May when he signed the bill into law.

A graphic about the law included with his comment read, “Radical green zealots want to impose their climate agenda on people through restrictions, regulations and taxes.”

SB 1084 - Ban on Lab-Grown Meat

Senate Bill 1084 prohibits the manufacturing, sale or distribution of lab-grown meat made from using animal cells. Florida is the first state to adopt such a ban.

“Florida is fighting back against the global elite’s plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals,” DeSantis said in a statement included in a May news release about the law. “Our administration will continue to focus on investing in our local farmers and ranchers, and we will save our beef.”

HB 21 - Dozier School for Boys

House Bill 21 creates a compensation program for victims of the Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys. Hundreds of boys were abused and some even killed at the Marianna reform school, which opened in 1900.

HB 601 - Oversight for Law Enforcement

This new law strips the power from civilian boards that provide oversight to law enforcement agencies and correctional facilities. Now, the state will handle investigations into complaints against law enforcement officers and employees at correctional facilities.
