1. Duke Energy and Tampa Electric Co. both reported thousands of power outages in the Tampa area on Christmas Eve as temperatures fell towards freezing levels, with some place as low as the 20s. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)

2. 2023's Fiesta Day is returning on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Historic Ybor City. The annual event is free to attend, but guests are encouraged to bring cash to support local vendors at the festival. (Creative Loafing Tampa)

3. A Southern California-based jewelery brand called gorjana is opening its first Florida location in Tampa's Hyde Park Village on Jan. 6, 2023. The shop's design is inspired by co-founder Gorjana Reidel and Jason Griffin Reidel's Southern California foundation. (That's So Tampa)

4. Hillsborough County is trying to alert residents to its "Tenant's Bill of Rights" ordinance passed last year. The bill prohibits landlords and property owners from refusing to rent to a tenant based on how they plan to pay for their rent, as long as the money comes from a lawful source of income. Only 25 alleged violations of the county ordinance have been reported since enforcement began in July. (WMNF)

5. A local woman is fighting for her life in the hospital after being found with serious injuries along I-275 in Tampa on Sunday. She was found unresponsive and sustained a significant head injury. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities. (WFLA)
