45 Arrested During July 4 DUI Enforcement: Hillsborough County Sheriff

Hundreds of traffic stops made and 45 people arrested during July 4 weekend DUI enforcement in Hillsborough County, sheriff's office said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Over the July 4 holiday weekend, 45 people were arrested during an initiative targeting drivers under the influence, authorities said.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Tampa Police Department and the Temple Terrace Police Department for the enforcement, HCSO said in a news release.

The multi-agency operation took place from July 3-6, targeting busy roads during holiday celebrations.

“If you drive drunk in Hillsborough County, expect to be arrested,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “There’s no excuse for driving under the influence, especially during a holiday when families are out enjoying their time together. Thanks to the efforts of our deputies and law enforcement partners, we stopped dozens of drivers who made reckless choices."
