🌱 58th Veterans Day Tribute Canceled + Siudy Garrido Coming To Tampa

• 🚓 Tampa Police have arrested the man accused of shooting a man whose body was discovered beneath an underpass on Sunday.
• 💃 A famous flamenco dancer is coming to Tampa on Saturday for "Flamenco Intimo."
• 🎖️ The 58th annual Veterans Day Tribute has been canceled due to Tropical Storm Nicole.

Today is Veterans Day. The day is a tribute to all the military veterans who have served the U.S. Armed Forces.

Here are the top stories in Tampa today:

1. Tampa Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a man whose body was discovered beneath an underpass at Hillsborough Avenue and Dale Mabry Highway on Sunday at around 1:30 a.m. Timothy McGovern, 30, is charged with first-degree murder in the incident. An earlier incident where McGovern allegedly shot into water gave police clues that led to his arrest. (Tampa Patch)

2. Venezuelan artist, choreographer and dancer Siudy Garrido is heading to the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Tampa on Saturday for "Flamenco Intimo." Garrido is the first Latin American flamenco dancer to receive two Latin Grammy nominations for a documentary film. She said she is "in love with Tampa." (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)

3. City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor joined local leaders to discuss Tropical Storm Nicole and said the impact of the storm for the Tampa area was "nothing out of the ordinary." Approximately 12,000 and 19,000 residents lost power during the storm in the Tampa Bay area on Thursday. (WFLA)

4. Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier will become a free agent after spending a decade with the MLB team. Kiermaier is a three-time Gold Glove winner and suffered some injuries that required surgery in 2021. (WTSP, Yahoo! Sports)

5. Hillsborough County's Consumer & Veterans Services department and the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County has canceled the 58th annual Veterans Day Tribute due to Tropical Storm Nicole. The event was scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins Jr. Veterans Museum. (Tampa Patch)
