927th ARW to Receive New Commander on Day of Rememberance
Colonel Frank L. Amodeo will assume command of the 927th Air Refueling Wing September 11.

MACDILL AIRFORCE BASE, FL – Colonel Frank L. Amodeo is slated to assume command of the 927th Air Refueling Wing from Col. Randal L. Bright during change of command ceremony to be held at 9:00 a.m., September 11 at MacDill Air Force Base.
Amodeo entered the Air Force in 1986 as a graduate of the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of Kentucky. In 2000, he joined the Air Force Reserve and deployed twice as a C-130 crew commander in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. The colonel commanded the 911th Operations Group at Pittsburgh International Airport-Air Reserve Station, PA, and served as the Air Force Reserve Command Reserve Advisor to the Commander, Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base. He was also the Chief of the Deployment and Distribution Operations Center, United States Transportation Command, which provides day-to-day execution and oversight of USTRANSCOM missions and the Defense Transportation System.

Most recently Amodeo served as the commander of the 403rd Wing at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. During his time there, Amodeo oversaw approximately 1,400 and civilian personnel operating, maintaining and supporting assigned squadrons and flights in support of tactical airlift missions, weather reconnaissance and combat support.
As 927 ARW commander, Col. Amodeo will now be responsible for the organization, training, equipping, and worldwide readiness of a combined reserve and civilian wing of approximately 950 people. The 927th Air Refueling Wing flies the KC-135R Stratotanker whose missions consist of in-flight air refueling, cargo and passenger airlift, aeromedical evacuation, and supporting contingencies and humanitarian operations around the world.

The 927th Air Refueling Wing is one of more than 35 tenants on MacDill Air Force Base and serves as mission partners with the 6th Air Mobility Wing. The 927th is a wing of approximately 950 personnel with three groups and two medical squadrons directly reporting to the wing commander. The 927th is home to two reserve specific missions at MacDill, the 45th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron and the 927th Aeromedical Staging Squadron.
