Body Found Near FL Bridge, Homicide Under Investigation
Deputies are investigating a homicide in Riverview after a body was found near a Pinellas County bridge, Hillsborough County sheriff said.
RIVERVIEW, FL — A Riverview homicide is under investigation after a body was found in St. Petersburg near the Gandy Bridge, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
A man walked into the HCSO District II office Friday just after 9 p.m. and claimed to have witnessed a homicide at a home on Maybrook Avenue that spanned into Pinellas County, the agency said.
HCSO detectives launched an investigation and contacted St. Petersburg police, who recovered a body near the Weedon Island Preserve off the Gandy Bridge.

At the same time, Hillsborough detectives responded to the home on Maybrook Avenue, where they found signs that a crime had taken place.
The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the body recovered near the bridge.

The person who came into the district office is cooperating with the investigation, the sheriff’s office said. No arrests have been made in the case.
"While our detectives continue to actively work this investigation, someone in our community knows what happened, and your information, no matter how small it may seem, could be the key to delivering justice for this victim and their family," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Help us hold those responsible accountable."
