- West Neptune Street between South Dale Mabry Highway and South Sterling Avenue will be closed on Jan. 9 at 9 a.m. to allow wastewater department crews to repair a wastewater mainline pipe. Drivers are advised to seek other routes and use caution when driving in the area. (Tampa Patch)
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a 21-15 defeat on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Sunday's game was not crucial to the team, as the Bucs have already qualified for the NFL playoffs after winning the NFC South divsion. Their likely opponent will be the Dallas Cowboys in their next game. (WFLA)
- Movies On The Lawn is returning to Armature Works in historic Tampa Heights on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. with a screening of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The event is free to attend, but interested participants can reserve a spot in advance on the official website of Armature Works. (That's So Tampa)
- Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in Riverview. The incident happened just after 10:30 p.m. in the 10200 block of Strawberry Tetra Drive near Gibsonton. - January is known as Blood Donor Month and local blood banks are in need after seeing less donations during the holiday season and winter months. An active hurricane season has also contributed to a lack of blood donations. Mayor Jane Castor was one of the first donors at a blood drive on Sunday. (Bay News 9)
