Cars At Palm River Junk Yard Catch Fire
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was called to douse a fire at a Palm River junk yard Monday night.
PALM RIVER, FL — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was called to douse a fire at a Palm River junk yard Monday night.
The emergency dispatch center received several calls at 6:43 p.m. reporting a large column of smoke at a junkyard at 5404 24th Ave. S in Palm River.
Engine 15 was first on the scene, and firefighters found several cars engulfed in flames. The crew began spraying the fires with water from the device attached to the engine, delivering hundreds of gallons of water per minute to control the fire.

Additional units arrived and provided water from a nearby hydrant while the fire rescue's foam truck spayed firefighting foam used to penetrate deep-seated fires while acting as a vapor suppressant should toxic or explosive fumes be emitted.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
