Cold Front Set To Shake Up Tampa Bay’s Weather
Strong-to-severe thunderstorms and cooler temperatures are possible as a cold front makes its way into the Tampa Bay area.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents may want to batten down the hatches for the workweek ahead. According to the National Weather Service, a cold front heading into the region is expected to shake things up a bit.

Storm chances may linger into the afternoon hours when the high is expected to climb into the upper 80s to low 90s. A mostly cloudy night is anticipated with a low in the mid-70s.

In its Monday Hazardous Weather Outlook report, the weather service warned that thunderstorms associated with the cold front could produce locally heavy rain, strong winds and frequent lightning strikes. There is also a slight risk that some of the storms that develop on Tuesday and Wednesday will be strong to severe, forecasts say.
The front is expected to make conditions potentially hazardous on local waters, as well. Winds along the coast are expected to reach speeds of up to 33 knots overnight Tuesday and through Wednesday.
The payoff for any storms that materialize on Tuesday and Wednesday is expected to arrive Thursday. While there’s a 40 percent chance for more thunderstorms during the daytime hours in much of the region, forecasters say Thursday’s high should only climb into the low 80s. Mostly clear overnight conditions are expected Thursday night with a low in the upper 60s anticipated.
Sunshine should make a strong return on Friday with a high in the upper 80s. Mostly clear overnight conditions are expected with a low in the low 70s forecast.
Slight rain chances are expected over the weekend, but highs will once again reach the low 90s, forecasters say.
