1. An internal affairs investigation found a longtime veteran of the Tampa Police Department (TPD) used homophobic slurs while arresting a person two years ago. The City of Tampa is also preparing to decide whether the Citizens Review Board (CRB) will be able to retain its own attorney and to subpoena its own evidence. (Creative Loafing Tampa, WMNF)

2. West Swann Avenue between South Glen Avenue and Henderson Boulevard is closed while department crews continue repairs on a sewer mainline pipe. Completion and restoration of the road is expected no later than the close of business on Oct. 28. (Tampa Patch)

3. A student reportedly brought a firearm to Tenoroc High School in Lakeland on Wednesday morning. The school district said that no one was threatened or harmed during the incident. (WFLA)

4. RADDSports, the company hired by Pasco County to run the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus, has defaulted on its management agreement, according to the Pasco County Commission. The concept was promoted as a tourism company, but only focused on local events. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)

5. Colony Grill has opened at Midtown Tampa at 3640 Midtown Drive. The restaurant is a New England-based concept with Irish origins and best known for its "hot oil" pizza. Midtown Tampa is a fast-growing community in West Tampa. (ABC Action News)
