1. The Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy C. Millan was able to present a check for $33,769 to the Hillsborough County School Board from its inaugural Kids Tag Art Program. The funds will provide $1,200 to each participating elementary school for art supplies and materials. (Tampa Patch)
2. Don Julio’s has opened a second restaurant in Tampa. Its first location can be found at 2808 East Bearss Avenue. The New Tampa Don Julio's is located at 16023 Tampa Boulevard. Founders Julio and Esther Rodriguez came to the Tampa Bay region from Mexico in the early 70s. One of their most popular items is, of course, the Quesabirria tacos. (That's So Tampa)
3. Minnesota-based Crisp & Green is heading to Tampa this summer along with plans to enter Miami, Sarasota,m and Orlando. The restaurant concept joins a number of health food concepts entering the dining scene and focuses on salads, build-your-own grain bowls, and smoothies. 4. Rocky the dog slipped out of his collar as he was being loaded into his family's car and ran loose at the Tampa International Airport for a week. Several travelers and visitors saw Rocky until Tampa International Airport Police Detective Dan Jones was riding around the airfield on an ATV when he spotted what "looked like a rabbit" darting into a wooded area near Runway 19L and Rocky was finally found. 5. Tampa Catholic High School recently unveiled its brand new Kevin Knox II Fieldhouse to faculty, students, alumni and donors. The $6 million state-of-the-art facility was funded by a $2 million donation from NBA player Kevin Knox II, a 2017 graduate of Tampa Catholic High School, and current Atlanta Hawks basketball player. - Loved ones of a teen who was found dead in Tampa came together on Wednesday to remember the 14-year-old. Nilexia Alexander was reported missing two weeks ago and listed as a runaway, according to Temple Terrace police. On Friday, The Tampa Police Department said its officers found the teen shot to death on Floribraska Avenue. (WFLA)
