DUI Driver Crashes Into FL Trooper Parked In I-75 Work Zone
A St. Pete man accused of driving under the influence crashed into a trooper's SUV parked in an I-75 work zone, FL Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A St. Petersburg man suspected of driving under the influence crashed into a trooper’s SUV parked in an active work zone on Interstate 75 early Friday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Vaughn Charles Donaldson, 50, was heading north on I-75 in his SUV just before 3 a.m. when he entered the work zone near milepost 254 and hit the back of the parked patrol SUV, FHP said.
The work zone was marked with arrow boards, signage and orange cones with reflective tape. The trooper’s SUV also had its emergency lights activated.

The FHP corporal suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was brought to an area hospital.
Donaldson was also brought to a local hospital with minor injuries. When he was released, he was arrested for DUI, DUI property damage and DUI personal injury, FHP said.
