Fatal Shooting At FL Apartment Complex Under Investigation

A man shot at a Tampa apartment complex later died from his injuries and one person is in custody, police said.

TAMPA, FL — A Thursday morning fatal shooting at a Tampa apartment complex is under investigation.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired at Silver Oaks Apartment in the 4200 block of Kenneth Court around 10:20 a.m., Tampa police said in a news release.

When they arrived, they found a Black man in his early 20s with gunshot wounds.

Security personnel from the complex were already at the scene providing first aid to the victim.

Officers began providing emergency medical care to him until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived. TFR brought him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The gun that was believed to be used in the shooting was recovered and taken as evidence.

The two people involved in the incident knew each other, police said. The shooting seems to have stemmed from an escalating domestic dispute.

The shooting remains under investigation.
