FL Sheriff's 911 Supervisor Accused Of Soliciting Sex With Minor
Hillsborough sheriff's communications supervisor charged in Clearwater police sting trying to solicit sex with 14-year-old, said police.
TAMPA, FL — A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Communications Center senior supervisor was arrested by Clearwater police after being accused of soliciting sex from a minor.
On Thursday, Clearwater police charged Jonathan Hagen, 34, of Land O' Lakes with luring a child for sex using the app Whisper, said the sheriff's office.
According to the sheriff's office, Hagen contacted the child he believed was a 14-year-old from Clearwater and indicated he was 30 to 35 years old. In reality, Hagen was communicating with an undercover detective from Clearwater Police Department.

"I'm absolutely appalled by this man's inexcusable behavior," said Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This act goes against everything we stand for at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. This individual's disturbing actions do not represent the dedicated, hard-working and upstanding employees here at HCSO. We remain committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community."

Hagen has been employed by the sheriff's office since 2014 and is on administrative leave without pay. During his tenure at the sheriff's office, there have been no internal investigations against Hagen.
Chronister said he understands the troubling nature of these charges and the impact this news may have on Hagen's co-workers. Counseling services are being provided to any employees who may be in need of them.
Hagen remains in the Pinellas County Jail on $70,000 bail.
The investigation by the Clearwater Police Department is continuing.
