FL Theme Park Shutting Down Original Attraction After 52 Years

Visitors have one last chance to ride an original Busch Gardens Tampa Bay attraction from the theme park's 1973 opening.

TAMPA, FL — Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is shutting down one of its original attractions after this weekend.

“After more than 50 years of splashes, smiles, and summer memories, Stanley Falls Flume is taking its final plunge this Sunday, September 7,” the theme park wrote in a Facebook post. “This is your last chance to ride before we say goodbye and make way for an exciting new future attraction! Come relive the fun and help us celebrate a true Busch Gardens legend.”

The Stanley Falls Flume was one of the original ride’s from the park’s opening in 1973.

The theme park described it as “a fan favorite for generations.”

The water ride, which has a minimum rider height of 46”, offers visitors a “moderate” thrill level, according to the Busch Gardens website. It boasts a 40-foot drop.

Plans for what will replace the flume ride haven’t been announced.
