FL Woman Fights Gator With Bare Hands To Save Puppy: Reports
A Tampa Bay-area woman was bitten while saving her 4-month-old puppy from the jaws of a 5-foot-long gator lurking in a creek near her home.

LAND O’ LAKES, FL — A woman was recently bitten while fighting off a 5-foot-long gator near her Land O’ Lakes home and saving her puppy’s life, according to multiple reports.
Earlier this month, Danie Wright and 4-month-old Dax encountered the gator while walking along a stagnant creek behind her house, WTSP reported.
“I heard a squeal, and I got pulled,” she said. “The alligator had him by his [collar] and dragged him, and I wasn't gonna let go.”

As the gator, who came out from the water about 15 feet, pulled her pup by his AirTag towards the creek, Wright’s instincts to fight back and save Dax kicked in, reports said.
"I just punched and punched and punched, and I punched him in the eye enough that he kind of let go, like, he unclamped a little," she told WESH. "But his teeth were like here and just dragged down my arm."

She told WSVN that she had never seen a gator in the area before. The one that attacked Dax had been hidden by floating water moss as they walked by the creek.
Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission officers were called to the scene. They quickly found and removed the gator from the area, reports said.
