FL's Best Middle Schools Ranked In New Analysis

Doral Academy of Technology in Doral is the best public middle school in Florida, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News researchers based the 2026 ranking of the nation’s best public middle schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. The researchers ranked more than 23,000 middle schools in its 2026 report, which was released Tuesday.

The top 25 public middle schools in Florida are:

1. Doral Academy of Technology, Doral
2. Okaloosa Stemm Center, Valparaiso
3. Pine View School, Osprey
4. Orlando Gifted Academy, Orlando
5. Bak Middle School of the Arts, West Palm Beach
6. West Shore Junior/Senior High School, Melbourne
7. Just Arts and Management Charter Middle School, Doral
8. Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, Merritt Island
9. Jose Marti Mast 6-12 Academy, Hialeah
10. Archimedean Middle Conservatory, Miami
11. A.D. Henderson University School & Fau High School, Boca Raton
12. I Preparatory Academy, Miami
13. Beachside Montessori Village, Hollywood
14. Pinecrest Lakes Academy, Minneola
15. Osceola County School for the Arts, Kissimmee
16. Somerset Academy Charter Middle School (South Miami Campus), South Miami
17. Alachua Learning Academy Middle, Alachua
18. University Academy Sabl Inc, Panama City

The ranking methodology considered student proficiency in math and reading/language arts state assessments, adjusting for student backgrounds and core subject achievements. In cases of ties, student-teacher ratios were used as a deciding factor.

The rankings are intended as an evaluation tool to give parents a snapshot of how well schools provide a high-quality education and prepare students for a successful future, LaMont Jones, managing editor for Education at U.S. News, said in a news release.
