Here are the top stories in Tampa today:
1. City of Tampa is now ranked No. 4 on the 2022-2023 Best Places to Retire in the United States, according to an annual list U.S. News & World Report released this week. The ranking is a new record for Tampa. Changes in the housing market are impacting retirement trends for senior citizens and inflation remains a concern. (Tampa Patch)
2. Tampa Bay Brewing Company (TBBC) co-owner John Doble is "walking away" from the business after alleged rude and discriminatory comments. At least five employees quit the brewery over comments allegedly made by Doble, according to WTSP. David Doble, managing partner of TBBC and the son of John Doble, addressed the concerns in a Facebook live on Monday night. (WTSP)
3. The Blend coffee shop has crossed the bridge from St. Pete and is now open in Tampa. It is located at 9951 W. Hillsborough Ave. The Blend is best-known for its signature latte flights, but also offers baked goods, smoothies, and fresh coffee roasts to-go. (That's So Tampa)
4. A teenage girl has died, and another teen was hospitalized after a shooting at a Halloween party in Thonotosassa, according to authorities. The incident happened in the 9000 block of Harney Road. An investigation is now underway, and the shooter is still at large as of Tuesday afternoon. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities. (WFLA)
5. September sales data from Greater Tampa Realtors shows a dramatic cooldown in Tampa Bay's housing market with a 36.2 percent year over year drop. Housing inventory also soared in the Tampa Bay area by 96.9 percent. A drop in demand and increase in inventory could push prices lower for homes in the Tampa Bay area.
