Here are the top five stories today in Tampa:

1. Inflation is starting to slow down after a decline in gasoline prices from earlier in the summer. However, inflation on food in Tampa Bay remains sharply high and is outpacing other areas including South Florida. The cost on goods in Tampa has climbed over 12% on products such as meats, poultry, fish and eggs. Rent also remains high. (Florida Patch)

2. Coco N’ice is serving vegan and gluten-free ice cream to the masses in Tampa at 3407 South MacDill Avenue. The local business also offers raw vegan cheesecake, smoothies, fresh juices and acai bowls. (That's So Tampa)

3. The 1st District Court of Appeal on Monday approved a request by Republican candidate Jerry Torres for a stay of the ruling by Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper. Torres is running in Congressional District 14 in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties and the stay will allow him to stay on the ballot with a quickly approaching August 23 Primary Election, while his eligibility to run is determined. 4. Democratic congressional candidate Alan Cohn has announced a more than $100,000 ad buy in television ads in the race for Congressional District 15. Cohn was the 2020 nominee for the Democrats and did not win the race in a 55% to 45% vote. (Florida Politics)

5. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said his "biggest heartache" about recently suspended State Attorney Andrew Warren was him "acting as a legislator" and "dismissing laws." Concerns for Chronister include, "prostitution, homelessness, trespassing at a business, marijuana that's illegalized." Warren says he is being targeted by Governor DeSantis for his opposing political views on various topics including abortion and LGBTQ rights. (ABC Action News, Tampa Patch)
