Heat Index 102: Tampa Bay Weekend Weather

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents and visitors with outdoor plans over the weekend ahead may find the conditions outside less than favorable. With heat index values expected to soar into the low 100s and rain likely daily, "miserable" may be the best word to describe conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday should kick things off with mostly sunny skies during the morning and early afternoon hours. The high is expected to climb to about 93 degrees in much of the region with a heat index value around 102 degrees. Storms are expected to move into the picture in the afternoon hours. Scattered thunderstorms are likely heading into the overnight hours when the low should only fall to the upper 70s.

Saturday is forecast to start off with mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will heat up quickly. Forecasters anticipate a high in the low 90s with a heat index value around 101. Storm chances are expected in the late afternoon hours and should stick around through the nighttime hours when the low will once again only fall to the upper 70s.
Sunday is expected to bring sunny skies in the morning hours, but storm chances move in during the early afternoon. The day’s high is forecast to climb into the upper 90s yet again. Overnight storms are possible with a low around 77 degrees forecast for much of the region.

Forecasters do not expect organized, severe weather over the weekend ahead. Even so, some of the thunderstorms that move in could be strong, the service warned in Friday’s Hazardous Weather Outlook report.
The workweek may kick off with a bang. Forecasters say storms on Monday should move into the region in the morning hours, mainly after 8 a.m. There’s about a 50 percent chance for scattered storms during the day with isolated showers possible overnight Monday. The day's high should reach the low 90s, forecasters say.
