Hillsborough Inmates To Get Free IDs On Valentine's Day
Government-issued IDs are essential for social services, educational opportunities and much more, the sheriff said.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A group of women inmates at the Falkenburg Road Jail are getting a gift this Valentine's Day from the sheriff's office, according to a release from the sheriff. A total of 50 women at the jail are getting free photo identification cards, courtesy of Florida Licensing on Wheels, also known as the FLOW Mobile.
"Once they have paid their debt to society and are released from our jails, many former inmates are unable to get access to social services, educational opportunities and much more, because they don't have an official government-issued identification card," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in the release.
The FLOW Mobile is offered with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
