House Fire In Tampa Leaves Family Homeless; Red Cross Called To Assist

One firefighter was taken to the hospital due to an injury at the scene and is in stable condition.

TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue battled a house fire early Friday morning that injured one firefighter and left a family homeless.

The emergency dispatch center received a 911 call at 3:10 a.m. from a resident reporting a house fire on Croton Avenue in Tampa.

The first arriving engine reported smoke and flames coming from the home. Crews began fighting the fire from inside the home and were able to extinguish the blaze in 20 minutes.

Additional crews conducted searches of the home and assisted with the water supply.

There was no one inside the home when firefighters arrived.
