Kids Invited To Explore Flying Careers During Girls In Aviation Day
Kids can explore careers in aviation and aerospace for free during the event sponsored by 30 organizations.
TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay kids interested in aviation and aerospace careers can learn how to soar at this year’s annual Girls in Aviation Day by the Tampa Bay Chapter of Women in Aviation International.
The free event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Sheltair Tampa, 4751 Jim Walter Blvd. All ages and genders are welcome to attend.
More than 30 sponsors including the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, which operates Tampa International Airport, Alaska Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, the Federal Aviation Administration and MacDill Air Force Base will have displays and learning activities for attendees.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's helicopter, Tampa General Hospital's Aeromed helicopter, an airport rescue and firefighting fire truck from TPA and other vehicles will be on display. The U.S. Coast Guard will also perform a flyover at 11 a.m.
The keynote speaker at the event will be Niloofar Rahmani, the first female pilot in Afghanistan’s air force.

Parking is free and food trucks will be on site to give attendees options to buy lunch.
