Leaven Brewing Celebrates 'A Very Merry Unbirthday' This Weekend

Leaven Brewing has stood the test of time in their four years since first opening in Riverview. Owners, Jillian and KJ Lynch, opened their neighborhood brewery just one year before the world was plunged into a global pandemic.

Now they will celebrate their 4th anniversary as Leaven Brewing's "A Very Merry Unbirthday Celebration" this weekend.

The special beer release in celebration is called "Difficult Game Indeed" and true to the experience of trying to keep the brewery open during the pandemic.

Despite all the challenges, including a government COVID shutdown, rising inflation, and navigating selling food for the first time, Leaven Brewing has persevered through the support of the local community, which at its core is what the Florida craft beer scene is all about.

Throughout the pandemic, the local community in Riverview came to lend a hand, buying beer to help them stay whole. The road has been anything but easy, however owner, Jillian Lynch, says it has taught her and her partner about the strength and power of community and what makes owning a small business so great. "We are such a community place that we do this for them," she added.

Fellow craft breweries also lent a hand to each other to be successful in the pandemic, she cited Coppertail Brewing Co. and 3 Daughters Brewing as examples of support. Leaven Brewing also entered distribution for the first time and can now be found in the local area at restaurants around town. Although Jillian is unsure what the future holds, one thing she says Leaven is committed to is selling quality craft beer and maintaining a community atmosphere.

Celebrate Leaven Brewery's "A Very Merry Unbirthday Celebration" on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 from 12 p.m. to midnight on both days. Guests can enjoy live music, delicious food, and over 30+ beers on tap. Leaven Brewing is located at 11238 Boyette Rd, Riverview, FL 33569.

There will be an "Alice In Wonderland"-themed costume contest as well, come out dressed in your best attire and be prepared to have a great time and celebrate success and community.
