Man, 32, Gunned Down On Tampa Street

The Tampa Police Department is investigating a Monday afternoon shooting in the middle of a street that left a man dead.

TAMPA, FL — A 32-year-old Tampa man is dead following a Monday afternoon fight on North Phillips Street that took a violent turn.

According to the Tampa Police Department, Julius R. Carter and an unknown man got into an argument in the 3400 block of North Phillips Street around 1:25 p.m. July 3. During that altercation, the other man pulled out a gun and fired several shots at Carter.

“Carter suffered multiple gunshot wounds and fled to the backyard of a nearby residence,” an email from the police department said. Carter died in the home’s backyard, the agency added.

The other man fled the scene after firing the shots, police said. The man has not been identified, nor has a description been released. He remained at large as of 5:30 p.m.

No further information is available at this time. It is unclear what the two men were arguing about.
