Man Dies Following Shooting In East Tampa; Sheriff Seeking Tips

TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday in East Tampa.

At 8:20 p.m., the communications center received a call indicating that shots had been fired in the 6000 block of North 48th Street.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a man in his 20s with upper body trauma due to multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he died.

"There is never a reason for anyone to let a disagreement rise to the level of deadly violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Detectives are piecing together this complex scene and will hold the individuals accountable for their wreckless violence."

At this time, deputies have determined that those involved in this shooting knew one another.
