Meet 5 Winter Olympians From Florida
Five athletes from Florida are among the American delegation at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Five athletes from Florida are among the American delegation at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.The games take place over a two-week period with the closing ceremony being held on Feb. 25.
The U.S. Olympic team is comprised of 242 athletes, with 135 men and 107 women. Athletes will be competing in alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsled, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, luge, Nordic combined, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboarding, long track speed skating and short track speed skating.

Three of the athletes are speed skaters from Ocala: Brittany Bowe, 29, Joey Mantia, 31, and Erin Jackson, 25. The other athletes are speed skater Mia Manganello, 28, of Crestview and hockey goalie Brandon Maxwell, 26, of Winter Park.
Erin Jackson, 25, qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics just four months after starting to compete in speedskating. She is the first black woman to secure a spot on the long-track team after taking third place in the 500-meter race at the U.S. Olympic Speed Skating Trial. The central Florida native is a 10-time world-champion inline skater and is a former roller derby player competing with the New Jax City Rollers.

Jackson graduated cum laude with an undergraduate in materials science engineering from the University of Florida.
