Memorial Day Weekend In Florida To Include Scattered Thunderstorms

Memorial Day will also be hot with a high near 94 degrees coupled with a 50 percent chance of rain in south Florida.

FLORIDA — A wrapped-up storm system in the Mississippi Valley will bring a variety of weather hazards to the Southeast during Memorial Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service. In Florida, portions of the state will be wet at times —so you may want to keep an umbrella close by.

Heavy rainfall over areas that have received appreciable rainfall recently may lead to areas of flash flooding, the National Weather Service forecasts. The highest threat includes areas around the Florida panhandle.

Florida's Peninsula could be particularly prone to scattered storms along the tail end of the front; however, the long weekend won't be a total washout, The Weather Channel reports. The anticipated showers and thunderstorms won't be constant during the three-day holiday.
