Here are the top five stories today in Tampa:
1. The first three cases of monkeypox have been reported in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Department of Health. The number of cases in Pinellas County has increased to 9, while the number of cases in Polk County has remained at 2 throughout the month. (Tampa Patch)
2. Tampa Bay's beer scene continues to shine with Cigar City Brewing, Florida Avenue Brewing Co., Cueni Brewing Co., de Bine Brewing, Motorworks Brewing and Brew Hub all taking home awards from the 2022 U.S Open Beer Championships in Ohio. The group won 11 medals in total at the event. (That's So Tampa)
3. A 32-year-old Tampa man, Yandri Castillo Aller, has been charged with stalking and exposure of sexual organs. A woman installed cameras at her home after she said Aller would go into her backyard and look through her windows. "This suspect’s behavior is not only illegal but deplorable and unacceptable," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said. (WFLA)
4. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida has found more than $25 million of COVID-related fraud in Tampa Bay. The investigation has already led to six convictions worth $8.7 million in forfeited funds, seven plea deals and charges against five individuals in Tampa Bay, according to a release. "Throughout the pandemic, my office and our law-enforcement partners have used all available methods to combat fraud related to COVID-19, and we will continue to do so," said U.S. Attorney Handberg. 5. Pedro "Pete" Redero, who says he suffers from issues with skin cancer, was ticketed $116 for using an umbrella at Belleair Shore in Pinellas County. The community added an ordinance banning temporary shade structures, such as umbrellas and tents, two years ago in 2020. (ABC Action News)

- The Cross-Bay Ferry is set to continue after Pinellas County agreed to new deal with St. Petersburg. Pinellas County will have to provide $38,000 in taxpayer funding for the next fiscal year as opposed to $190,000 under the original proposal. - Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said his preferred location for a new Rays ballpark would be on the Tampa side of the bay, but that will not be the only factor deciding where the next ballpark will be built. (WTSP)
