Weeks after a fatal shooting in Seffner, a man was charged with premeditated murder and a woman was arrested, the Hillsborough sheriff said.

SEFFNER, FL — New charges have been filed in connection with a fatal shooting in Seffner in May, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies responded to a 911 call about a shooting in the 100 block of Phillips Drive on May 14 around 3:15 a.m.

When they arrived, they found the victim, Michael Workman, 31, with a gunshot wound to his upper body, the sheriff’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The agency’s Aviation Unit was sent to the area on May 16 to help ground units in tracking the suspect, Kristopher Bridges, 29.

When they found him in a convenience store parking lot in Temple Terrace, Bridges intentionally drove into a sheriff’s office vehicle and left the area, HCSO said.

They followed him into Thonotosassa, where deputies used a precision immobilization technique to stop him. He was taken into custody when he tried to run away by foot.

During his arrest, Bridges was initially charged with aggravated fleeing to elude, aggravated assault on law enforcement officer with deadly weapon, resisting officer without violence, reckless driving with property damage or personal injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and robbery with a firearm.

He was also arrested on two out-of-county warrants: aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon.

Detectives identified Bridges as the shooter in Workman’s death after an ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
